My Gene Dx Academic Team\, India in collaboration with Botswana Optometrists Association (BOA) has initiated a unique\, Genetic Counselling course for Optometrists \,one of its kind in Africa for the members of BOA \,as there is a need for imparting genetic knowledge in Optometry practice\, which is undergoing a revolutionary change\, due to advancement in Optometry and Visual Sciences. \nMy Gene Academic Team is led by Prof. G. Kumaramanickavel\, MD\, who is trained in India\, United States of America and New Zealand. He has published 125 peer reviewed papers and has counselled over 12\,000 genetic disorder patients. He was formerly the Deputy Director of Research\, Molecular Biology & Genetics\, Sanakara Nethralaya\, India\, Visiting Associate of Ophthalmic Genetics & Clinical services\, National Eye Institute\, NIH\, USA and also currently Director of Research at Narayan Nethralaya\, Bangalore\, India. \nThis 6 to 8 weekend (two hour per weekend session) Genetic Course is open to the 46 BOA members only\, and shall be conducted in batches of four\, with a limit of 12-13 member per batch. The course commenced from 11 March 2022 and shall last to 27 October 2022\,at a spread of four batch\, to impact the knowledge of Medical Genetics\, Genomics and Genetic Counselling to Optometrists.
