Mr. Muhamad Syukri bin Mohamad Rafiuddin, EMCO Regional Representative

Mr. Muhamad Syukri completed his Bachelor of Optometry (Honors) in Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) in 2010. Once graduated, he joined the Association of Malaysian Optometrists (AMO) and was immediately appointed as an Executive Committee member and served from 2011 to 2016. Mr. Muhamad Syukri served as the AMO Webmaster, Social Media Coordinator as well as promoting Optometry student engagement. He is the youngest Executive Committee member ever appointed or elected for AMO.

From 2016 until 2020, he served as the National Assistant Secretary. He was the local project manager for AMO’s National Eye Health (NEHA) Campaign in 2019, and initiated conversation and engagement with Malaysia’s Minister of Health and helped to get Optometrist recognized as Primary Eye Care provider by the Malaysian government. Recently, he was elected as Vice President of AMO.

In 2019, he was elected to represent AMO on the Asia Pacific Council of Optometry (APCO) Executive Committee, was nominated by APCO to represent the Asia Pacific region for World Council of Optometry (WCO) and became a member of the WCO Public Health Committee.

Mr. Muhamad Syukri founded and manages a chain of optometric private practices (MATA by Optometrist) since 2016. 5 outlets are located in Klang Valley and 1 outlet is in Johor, Malaysia. In addition, he also founded and co-founded various start-ups and technology companies as well as social enterprises. Mr. Muhamad Syukri is also a trained Electrophysiologist of Vision.

He was also invited and appointed as on panels and as trainers for various government agencies including Malaysia Optical Council (MOC), Medical Device Authority Malaysia (MDA), Malaysia Qualification Agency (MQA) and the National Institute for Entrepreneurship (Insken). He has also lectured/clinically supervised at UiTM, Management & Science University (MSU) and International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).
