Younis Doudin is the President of Eastern Mediterranean Council of Optometry (EMCO) elected in September, 2017. As part of this role, Younis promotes and advocates for Optometry best practices across the region, recommends new advances in Optometry and more plans to be implemented throughout the coming 3 years with the Council.
Younis co-founded the General Association of Optometry in Jordan (a member of WCO) and served as its first elected president in 2008. Afterwards, Younis was elected twice to serve as a president again for the Association in 2010 and 2014.
Younis has been always an active member of the Optometry community in Jordan and across the region participating in different local and regional conferences. Additionally, he continuously holds events, lead sessions, and conducts community volunteer work within the same field. Younis is currently a member of different non-profit organizations and initiatives, such as the National Committee for White Cane, the Cultural Forum for the Blind, and Al-Ataa’ Sports Club for the Blind; where he is serving at the later as a vice President and a member.
Additionally, Younis is the Founder and General Manager of Optima Reflection Vision Company based in Amman with operations and partners in Dubai. He is also the owner and founder of two business ventures; Al Sa’adeh Optical Centre since 1987 and Doudin Pharmacy since 1981 in Jordan. Lastly, Younis is a partner at Arab Vision Centre since 2008 in Amman.
Younis holds a Bachelor Degree in Pharmacy from Complutense University of Madrid (Madrid – Spain) in 1975, followed by a Higher Diploma in Optometry from University of Santiago de Compostela (Santiago – Spain) in 1977. Most recently, he concluded a Diploma in “Low Vision for Clinical Optometrists” from the German Jordan University Vision Training Centre in 2016.
