WCO World Congresses

Our biennial World Congresses aim to strengthen the presence and impact of optometry globally by offering a global platform where practitioners, students, researchers and educators can share expertise and engage in the development of optometry’s future.

It is an opportunity to bring together optometrists, optometric educators, researchers and students from around the globe to network and learn through a mix of plenary sessions, continuing education lectures, clinical workshops, poster sessions and an extensive exhibit hall featuring the latest optometric innovations.

Past World Congresses have been held in partnership with our members in Colombia, India, the United States, and Australia.

The World Council of Optometry (WCO) is thrilled to announce the hosting of the 5th World Congress of Optometry in collaboration with the American Optometric Association (AOA) and the American Optometric Student Association (AOSA) during the esteemed 128th Annual AOA Congress & 57th Annual AOSA Conference: Optometry’s Meeting® 2025. The event is set to take place  June 25-28, 2025, at the Minneapolis Convention Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. At the 5th World Congress of Optometry, attendees can expect a convergence of global perspectives and innovative solutions aimed at realizing the World Council of Optometry’s vision of universal access to high-quality eye health and vision care. Learn more in the news release.
