Dr. Juan Carlos Aragón, WOF Trustee

A native of Costa Rica, Dr. Juan Carlos Aragon is a successful global business and people leader with over 40 years of multi-functional experience in establishing, managing and profitably-growing successful businesses in Asia Pacific, the Americas and Europe, within ophthalmic medical device companies, focusing during the past several years on the growing global pediatric myopia markets.

He earned his optometry degree from the Superior School of Medicine of the National Polytechnic Institute in Mexico City in 1984.

He is the CEO and Executive Board Member of Visioneering Technologies, an innovative and growing vision care company within the pediatric myopia management and presbyopia segments of the market. Dr. Aragon worked for 23 years for CooperVision, where he was president of their Specialty EyeCare business unit.

In addition to his business accomplishments, Dr. Aragón is a former founding board member and former Chair of the Global Myopia Awareness Coalition (GMAC), a diverse group of leading companies working together to protect children from the effects of myopia. Recognized by the World Council of Optometry for “exceptional dedication and innovative contribution for advancing myopia management”, since 2013, he has volunteered as Chairman of the US Board of Optometry Giving Sight, the international vision-care fundraising charity, aiming to improve the quality of life of people who are needlessly blind or vision-impaired simply because they don’t have access to an eye exam and a pair of spectacles.  He has also been a board member of the Brien Holden Foundation, the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness, and Vision Aid Overseas (now Vision Action). He was also a Board Member of Sight Glass Vision, now a Joint Venture of CooperVision and Essilor/Luxottica.
