Dr. Niall Farnon,

Geographic Representative

for Latin & South America

Dr. Niall Farnon is an Irish-trained optometrist based in Trinidad and Tobago and is a Fellow of the International Association of Contact Lens Educators (FIACLE). He has worked in multiple areas of optometry and is passionate about the prevention of vision loss.

In 2013, he joined the University of the West Indies in the BSc Optometry program, where he is now Head of the Optometry Unit. He has spoken at several conferences from Trinidad to Hyderabad, to Puerto Rico to the European Academy of Optometry and Optics in Berlin. His lectures range from contact lenses, spectacle lenses, myopia management, sports vision, pediatric optometry and also patient management. He obtained his research doctorate from Ashton University in the UK in 2022. 

Dr. Farnon has served as the past president of the Trinidad and Tobago Optometrist Association (2013-2017) and Caribbean Optometrist Association (2015-2017). He is the current Secretary for the Trinidad and Tobago Opticians Regional Council since 2017.

Dr. Farnon is a member of the WCO Education Committee and is the current WCO Geographic Representative for Latin America.
